Nottingham-based architects Rayner Davies is behind a £10 million scheme in King's Lynn.
West Norfolk District Council approved plans by Newlyn Developments to carry out a major overhaul of their Berol House site on the Hardwick Industrial Estate, providing a scheme of 2 developments: an industrial development of industrial units and trade counters and a development of offices and associated parking. The scheme is expected to create 320 jobs in the area.
Rayner Davies, who have offices in Nottingham and Maidstone Kent, has designed the project and carried out the masterplanning for the site. The scheme includes 18 light industrial units and two office buildings as well as a trade counter unit.
Jonathan Bramley from Rayner Davies said: “We are delighted that this scheme has been given the go ahead. This is an environmentally friendly and highly versatile development. Each office building is designed with flexibility in mind and can be subdivided to contain several smaller office units which can be easily joined together to form larger or smaller offices as required by the end user.”
“It is great for Rayner Davies that we are being used for projects across the country, particularly in this difficult economic time. It shows the quality of services available in Nottingham, and really helps to put the city on the map.
“This project will transform the current piece of land located between Oldmedow Road and Scania Way and will provide King’s Lynn businesses with a quality location and excellent links. It is also highly sustainable and environmentally friendly development using renewable energy sources as part of the energy supply for the scheme.”
John Archbold, Newlyn’s managing director said: “We are delighted that planning has been granted, this is great news for Kings Lynn in these difficult economic times. We estimate that when full, the scheme could offer hundreds of jobs for the area.”
Work is due to start imminently, although it is likely to be completed in phases. Newlyn Developments is hoping to have the development fully complete by 2011.
