Office Space Moves to Green Belt
10 Aug 2009

NOTTS- based architects Rayner Davies has completed a £2m commercial development at Spellow Farm, near Radcliffe on Tent.

The project has transformed the disused farm buildings in the Notts green belt into three fashionable office units and three industrial units.

Steve Rayner of Rayner Davies said "We’re really pleased with the result of the project. We have created desirable, unique office space for any firm based within the area, or those looking for a rural base.

"The work we have done has complimented the original buildings, enhancing rather than destroying their traditional charm. There are many of these disused barns dotted around the countryside, and most are capable of conversion to office space. The planners are often keen to see them put to a new commercial use rather that being left to decay"

The site at Grantham Road originally consisted of a group of industrial red-brick bull pens built around a courtyard, which dates back to the late 19th century.

The three office units have been extended using modern materials, which compliment the old red brickwork. The industrial units, which total 20,000 sq ft provide great new space for new or expanding businesses.

Steve said: "The offices are still within distance of Nottingham on the A52, and avoid parking issues and the congestion of the city centre."

The project is designed to attract small businesses looking for site expansion or start ups choosing a rural setting.
