Yorke House
February 2002
Client: Braemore Properties Ltd
Contract Value: £800,000
Situated in the historic Park Estate area of central Nottingham, Yorke House is a fine example of a late Victorian Villa.
Originally constructed as a single dwelling in a substantial plot, it had previously sufferedsome decline. Braemore Properties bought the building with the intention of creating the finest apartments in the City. The result is a striking example of sympathetic but radical design alteration. The entire roof structure was removed to allow the construction of new mezzanine and roof-deck levels (formed with a steel frame) within the two penthouse apartments. These provide spectacular views across the City. The ground was excavated below the ground floor units to provide semi-subterranean living areas, which lead out to the landscaped rear gardens.
Yorke House was the winner of the Nottingham Post Group New Homes Award 2002.
